Nature Based Solutions Mobilized for The Great Green Wall

As part of its support for the Great Green Wall initiative, the World Economic Forum engaged Archipel&Co, in partnership with Regenopolis, to develop a market-based agroecological strategy. We developed a two-phased approach.

Phase 1: identify, profile and prioritise the non-timber forest products with greatest potential to sustainably delver economic, social, biodiversity and climate-resilience value.

Phase 2: establish operational partnerships across public and private sectors to set up and develop the priority value chains. We have consolidated a database of nearly 2,000 entries from fieldwork conducted in five countries in partnerhips with local experts from our network. Based on a bespoke decision model, we selected priority value chains, with a focus on the food/nutrition and cosmetics markets. Watch this space in September, 2022 for the public release of the agroecological strategy by the World Economic Forum.
